RIP Hickstead
Today, the Canadian horse community is in mourning. This morning we lost a champion - one of the most amazing horses we have ever been fortunate enough to have on our team. It is an incredible loss to show jumping. There will never be another horse like him.

Today the world says goodbye to the reigning Olympic gold medalist.

RIP Hickstead. You have no idea how many hearts you have touched and how truly devastated we are that your time came so soon.

Apparently FEI TV aired footage of his death, and now it's on youtube. I watched it and I don't advise doing so. It just seemed so unreal that I felt like I needed to see it to accept it, but now I'll never be able to forget seeing it. I was bawling all morning, not so much from watching the video, but because I was so upset that the FEI would disrespect that horse by televising his tragic death (and I heard through the grapevine that they showed it more than once) after everything he gave to the sport.

I can't believe they'd show it. That's terrible. Yeah, no, I wouldn't watch it anyway.
