Someone please explain to me what exactly "Pottermore" is. I keep seeing it on here, twitter and facebook and I'm starting to wonder if I should be in on this craze.

Primarily, it is the web site that will sell digital versions of the Harry Potter books, which have not been available until now.
Available for all (major?) e-book platforms. They will only be available via Pottermore, and not Amazon, et al.
I think some part of the net profits are going to charity. Don't remember which one.
J.K. Rowling is directly involved with the site, so it's all official-like. Also will be the source of previously unpublished minutae.
